  • 7 October 2023 Launch of Frozen Continent Exhibition at The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum, Cheltenham and, as part of the Cheltenham Literary Festival, a chat on Edward Wilson, with Dr David M. Wilson, Anne Strathie and Ann-Rachael Harwood, plus artist and climate justice activist Tolmeia Gregory exploring why there isn’t just one way to be a part of the climate movement.
  • August 2016 Exhibition at Bonhams, London, bringing together artwork by Edward Wilson (1872-1912), photographs by Herbert Ponting and Captain Scott with artwork by contemporary artists from the SPRI Antarctic Artist in Residence Programme.
  • July/August 2016 'The Final Journey of Edward Wilson' a play charting the life of Edward Wilson staged in Stroud, Gloucester and Painswick
  • November 2015 Unveiling of a life size bronze Emperor Penguin at The Wilson, commissioned and funded by the Art Gallery and Museum Development Trust.
  • August 2015 Death of Christopher Wilson (b 1946) naturalist, author and broadcaster, one of the better known great nephews of Edward Wilson of the Antarctic and author of several books, particularly on the wildlife of Ireland and co-author of two volumes of his great uncle’s wildlife notebooks with his brother, David.
  • 30th May 2014 Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, open the completed new wing of The Wilson Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum and are presented with a reproduction of a watercolour by Dr Edward Wilson as a token of thanks.
  • 30th January 2014 Dr David Wilson, great nephew of Dr Edward Wilson, opens the new Paper Archive at The Wilson Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum, putting the Wilson Family Archive on display to the public for the first time.
  • 5th October 2013 The opening of the newly refurbished and renamed The Wilson Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum, renamed in honour of Dr Edward Wilson and the Wilsons of Cheltenham
  • 24 May - 30 August 2013 Exploring Antarctica: the final expeditions of Scott and Shackleton at the Historic Dockyard, Chatham, includes some paintings by Edward Wilson. The exhibition was visited by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, who was presented with a copy of Edward Wilson's Antarctic Notebooks as a momento.
  • 8th December 2012 Dedication of the new memorial to Captain Scott RN and Dr Edward Wilson at Glen Prosen, Cortachy
  • 10th November 2012 Service and commemoration at St Peter's Church, Leckhampton, Cheltenham to mark the centenary of the finding and burial of the body of Dr Edward Wilson and the other members of the Pole Party in 1912
  • 29th March 2012 Service in St Paul's Cathedral to mark the centenary of the death of Dr Edward Wilson, Captain Scott RN and Lt. Birdie Bowers, along with Captain Oates and PO Evans RN on the return from the South Pole in 1912

  • 14th December 2011 The Centenary of Roald Amundsen reaching the South Pole was celebrated in Oslo. His Majesty King Harald V was presented with a selection of polar books to celebrate the occassion, including The Lost Photographs of Captain Scott and Edward Wilson's Antarctic Notebooks.
  • 8th December 2011 Members of the Wilson family are among those invited by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to a reception at Buckingham Palace in honour of the Scott Centenary
  • 17 November 2011 Edward Wilson's Antarctic Notebooks is launched by Sir David Attenborogh at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust centre in Barnes, London
  • 12 March - 24 May 2010 A Terrible Beauty: Edward Wilson in Antarctica 1902 - 1912 Brantwood, Coniston. An Exhibition of the Works of Edward Wilson, artist, explorer, naturalist and doctor on the Scott Expeditions to Antarctica.
  • 2007 Part of the centenary celebrations of the Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum, the Not Just History exhibition includes a small selection of work from Edward Wilson's Nature Notebooks and some Antarctic images.
  • 1st December 2001 - 3 March 2002 Discovering Nature: the Nature Notebooks of Dr. Edward Wilson (1872-1912) at the Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum. A rare chance to see Edward Wilson's Nature Notebooks.
